Sven Longshanks looks back at the Iron Duke’s driving career, before discussing the banning of discos in Uganda over too many murders and a Conservative MP loading his shotgun in preparation for no Brexit.
The Duke of Edinburgh escaped unscathed from a car crash at the weekend age 98, but this was not his first, not by a long way. Over the years many of his neighbours have had their rear ends rammed into, only to look in the mirror and see the cheery Duke beaming at them. You have to admit, this Royal really is a character and quite an inspiration to still be driving at his age.
In Uganda they have a novel way of dealing with a DJ who fails to play the crowd’s favourite music. They kill them. This has been happening so much that the Ugandan district of Nebbi has banned discos outright. Killing for entertainment or whilst having a party is nothing new in Africa, in fact it seems to be something of a tradition going by reports from the 1850s.
Hopefully nobody will end up being killed when the British government betray the people over Brexit, but one unnamed Conservative MP says he is loading his shotgun just in case. There is no consensus in Parliament and nobody is willing to compromise, yet the answer to the problem is to just carry out Article 50. If the politicians cant agree on a deal, then they are supposed to leave with no deal, on WTO terms.
Even if that isn’t the best for the country, at least it would break the deadlock. The very next day Britain could start making deals with individual countries and this is the default legal position so why wont they just do it?
