Episode 5 of The Church of the Lampshade is here once again and let me tell you we've got a great show for you this week!
After getting past the obligatory shekel grubbing we get to the hot topics of the day that we all want discussing. Of course this week the big topic is the Mosque shooting in New Zealand. I had the pleasure this past Friday of being on The Daily Nationalist with Sven Longshanks right after this story broke. At the time, details were still coming in so we were kind of flying by the seat of our pants so to speak.
This week's Church of the Lampshade show was recorded on Saturday, giving us a little more time to digest the information, put it in context and look at the bigger picture.
This week's sermon is honestly one of the best yet and I believe will be of great benefit to many of my fellow Christians. A listener reached out with their own struggles in faith and I thank them for sharing them, so we may all have the opportunity of gaining strength in discussing the related issues.
At times one may feel as though they are the only one going through certain trials, but trust me you are not. The fact of the matter is that pretty much all of us go through these things at some level or another, but most of the time we simply keep these struggles to ourselves. While this may simply just be the way we handle things by our very nature (we don't want to come off as whiners after all) the fact of the matter is we wind up missing out on the opportunity to help one another grow in our faith by keeping these things to ourselves. I believe this week's sermon provides us all with the opportunity to grow.
As we wind up episode 5 of the new show I find myself pleased with the direction that the show is going. I'll admit I still catch myself trying to call it "Thoughts of the Day" but I really do feel that the shift in focus of the new show is a move in a positive direction. The goal here is to keep the aspects of the old show that worked while really turning our focus onto the spiritual matters which are all so often neglected in our society. It is my belief that we are engaged in a spiritual battle and as such it is only prudent that we prepare ourselves for the spiritual nature of the fight that we are in.
I hope you enjoy and will continue to support all that we do. While some aspects of the show may change, the one thing that will never change is the fact that the show and the work we do here would not exist without you the listeners being a part of it.
