Dr Matthew Raphael Johnson joins Sven Longshanks to discuss the new axis in the Middle East, which has potential to receive backing from Russia and China and has got America very worried.
America’s anti-Assad strategy was supposed to weaken Iran, but it has had the opposite effect as now the Iranian forces are stationed right up next to Israel’s border.
Turkey has abandoned it’s Sunni rebels at Russia’s request in return for Russia turning a blind eye to them going after the Kurds, America’s proxies in the region.
The Turkey, Iran, Qatar entente is a direct challenge to the Saudi led ‘Arab NATO’ coalition. Qatar has the highest per capita income in the world and is now buying large quantities of arms from China, including missiles with the potential to hit Saudi Arabia, who they have fallen out with in a big way.
Trump has used the harshest language ever used against a NATO ally towards Turkey, but they don’t appear to be listening now they have their rich and powerful neighbours helping out.
