The American people did not want to take part in a war in Europe and the United States were supposed to be neutral, however there were hidden forces at work behind the scenes.
When Henry Ford visited President Woodrow Wilson with his idea for a peace ship to end the hostilities he was surprised to find the President more interested in arming America to the teeth and crushing Germany, than brokering a peace deal with the help of the other neutral countries.
Part of the reason for this may have been Cecil Rhodes secret will. This will left a huge fortune to be invested with the goal of funding the eventual recovery and incorporation of the USA into the British Empire.
Rhodes wanted to see all the English speaking nations become a world empire ruling over all the rest, something Germany would be accused of by the very same English speaking leaders.
This Anglo-supremacy is still in operation today, with America and Britain thinking they can play by different rules to everyone else and Cecil Rhodes will was probably the start of it.
