Sven Longshanks and Max Musson continue their look at the Patriotic life of Chief Scout and founder of scouting, First Baron Baden Powell.
Baden Powell fought against the African savages in the Matabele war and had a hand in the assassination of the chief Witchdoctor.
After that he was a central figure in the siege of Mafeking, where his ingenuity kept the Boers deceived as to the resources held in the town.
This was an age where chivalry and good sportsmanship were still observed on both sides, with a ceasefire on Sundays so the British could play cricket.
Baden Powell had insight from experience on the non-White races and he saw Whites as needing to set a good example for them to follow.
