Not all distraction is bad. After all, a little distraction can reinvigorate the mind and what better way to do that than to listen to this week’s instalment of The Church of the Lampshade?
While GPL has thus far dodged the corona, the same cannot be said for the listener supporter mailbag. We live in a time where unprecedented amounts of information are available to people. Yet only a small fraction of the population ever attempts to access it. Why? Because we live in an age of near constant distraction. It is as if one didn’t want you to hear a conversation, so they turned the radio up loud in order to drown out the background noise. While much information is available, it requires tuning out the background noise in order to do so. Yet in the end, very few people are willing or apparently mentally capable of doing so.
The Christian specific segment this week will be tackling multiple topics. Scripture reference will be Mathew 5:27-30. In this piece of scripture, Jesus says that if you simply look lustfully at a woman you’ve already committed adultery in your heart. Does this mean that you are being held to the same account as if you had actually done the deed? That question will be answered here.
Also covered will be the admonition to cut off members of your body in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again, common sense tells us that Jesus isn’t telling you to disfigure yourself so what is the message here? Tune in to find out!
Finally, the Reverend Lampshade cautions against allowing yourself to be defined by your sin. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Yet you shouldn’t focus so much on your sin that you discount the non-sinful things that you do.
It’s a jam packed show this week and you had best be prepared for the ride! You don’t have to worry about dozing off in this church because from start to finish, there’s never a dull moment at The Church of the Lampshade.
