Sven Longshanks and Dennis Wise continue their look at the Spanish Inquisition, beginning with the Jews being asked to leave Spain.
The conversos were suspected as still behaving like Jews instead of Christians and the pious Ferdinand and Isabella decided to do something about it.
They formed the Inquisition with the help of a genuine converso, Thomas de Torquemada.
This is portrayed today as a persecution of Jews, but the Inquisition never went after Jews, only Christians who were suspected as being heretics and still following Jewish practices.
