Grandpa Lampshade explains why it is necessary for large numbers of fools to take part in democracy.
An explosive episode of The Church of the Lampshade this week, as Grandpa Lampshade returns once again for insights and commentary you won’t find anywhere else. This show is made possible in no small part due to support from listeners. If you want to be a part of that, you can find the information at the bottom of this page.
Often times in normieland you will come across 1776’ers, the people who claim they want to “Get back to what the Founders intended”. GPL has decided that these folks can be a new “neo” type for the commies: Neofounders or Foundermentalists. If these people are serious about this then Grandpa Lampshade is all in! We often hear about checks and balances in our system of government and yet, nobody ever seems to notice that those checks and balances have all been destroyed, such as the restrictions on voting rights.
How many of the 1776’ers are willing to deny women the vote? How about non whites? How about the majority of white men not being allowed to vote? They fall away one by one as you name these disqualifications, yet this was one of the fundamental principles our so called republic was built upon. The reality is that this nation is so far away from what the Founders set forth, it is like comparing Germany today to the Third Reich yesterday. A complete contrast with the Founders restriction on voting is the modern corrupt democracy, which requires as many stupid people as possible to vote. There will always be a surplus of morons compared to thoughtful citizens and voting rights are a simple way for a corrupt system to drown their voices out with those of the idiots. In short, democracy requires the dumb.
In the Christian specific message this week, the Reverend Lampshade looks at the flip side of his often talked about “faith = action” message and looks at doubt. If in the end, faith = action then it stands to reason that doubt also = action. So often as Christian believers, we beat ourselves up over doubting the Lord. Yet are we really doubting him as expressed by our actions? Are we condemning ourselves falsely over nothing more than a feel when at the end of the day, by our actions we have indeed done our best to walk in faith? Do we discount our own faithful walk and instead judge ourselves based on nothing more than our emotions? Chances are, you are probably doing better in your walk in faith than you are giving yourself credit for.
Scripture reference this week will be Mathew 21:28-30.
Each show is special and even though it’s not possible to have something for everyone, the goal if for every show to have something for someone. Hopefully that someone is you. If not then don’t sweat it, chances are there will be something for you next week when we gather the congregation once again for The Church of the Lampshade.
