Sven Longshanks and Max Musson discuss the early life of Captain Robert Falcon Scott.
Captain Scott was from a wealthy family, yet he was working at just 13 years of age on naval vessels, spending his days high up the top of the rigging.
He showed outstanding skills from childhood and a chance meeting would see him later leading the first trip to the Antarctic.
In this episode he finally gets picked to lead the Antarctic expedition, because he wanted ‘the freedom to develop more widely’ and we learn about the strict discipline the navy had at this time.
Presented by Sven Longshanks and Max Musson
