Sven Longshanks looks at the details of the guidance given in the upheld Harry Miller free speech appeal.
The guidance instructs the Police that there must be evidence of a crime for them to be interfering in the public’s free speech rights and it is no longer enough simply for a person to say they felt victimized by someone else’s opinion.
This could well slow down the push throughout schools and elsewhere to remove all language that is not ‘inclusive’.
Some examples of this are schools removing the words ‘head boy’ and ‘head girl’, ‘good’ and ‘bad’ and even ‘Christmas’ and ‘Easter’ from official pronouncements.
