It is a solemn and auspicious edition of Thoughts of the Day this week as we pay tribute to a real American hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation and our people. Too often the term "hero" gets tossed around and used lightly and it can take away from the achievements and sacrifices of true heroes. Well not here, not on Grandpa Lampshade's watch! This week we'll pay tribute to a real American hero, a hero who has earned our undying respect and gratitude.
The voting debate has heated up once again in our circles. This is one of those topics that is always simmering under the surface but it flares up quite regularly, sort of like the Old Faithful geyser at Yosemite National Park. This isn't the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last but once again I'll give the GPL take on the voting question.
One of the things I find most amazing as I look back over the years is the ability of people to accept a new normal. I am not just talking about the various levels of degeneracy here. Things such as the Patriot act, warrantless searches and a militarized police force would have been completely unfathomable just a few short decades ago, yet now these things are considered perfectly normal. Now this may seem discouraging for you but keep this in mind: if those things can become the new normal then so can our views.
One of the things I have found so blatantly obvious in our enemies' tactics is how they have banned everyone who is not a hard core leftist from Twitter, so they can now write stories about how everyone is outraged by Trump yet the entire rest of the article will be nothing more than screen shots from the reporter's own Twitter feed. Let me tell you, that journalism gig must be real hard.
No listener questions/comments this week so we head straight into the Church of the Lampshade. This week we'll be rocking it old school and Old Testament as we go all the way back to the book of Genesis and discuss the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. More specifically the interactions of Lot and his wife with the angels tasked with the destruction in all of this. One of the great things about the Old Testament is how it can be viewed as illustrative of God's interaction with man which in turn can give you insight into your own interactions with God. We will break down this well known Old Testament story in a way that will hopefully give you an entirely new perspective.
On this solemn occasion we gather once again to pay our respects to the fallen, to honor our heroes and to march on with our fun and lively discussion. It's always my pleasure to meet with all of you here and I hope to see you again next week for Grandpa Lampshade's Thoughts of the Day.
