I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, how about you? That's right folks, it's time for the Christmas edition of Grandpa Lampshade's Thoughts of the Day. We step away from our usual format of segments devoted to specific topics this week to talk about one thing and one thing only: Christmas. Well ok, we also talk about a few other things actually but we will be discussing all of those things in the context of Christmas.
It's been awhile since we've done a simple conversational show and I thought this week would be a great opportunity to do so once again. GPL will share some Christmas stories from his life and discuss the importance and the impact we make on people with the simple things that we may not even realize that we're doing. You see, it's not all the gifts that stay with people for the rest of their lives, it's the memories that we make. Though it's true that we're in the middle of a struggle for the very existence of our people, you still must take the time to enjoy the gift of this life we have been given and hopefully, make an impact on those around you.
Even though technically we're not having a Christian segment this week, how can we talk about things in the context of Christmas without discussing Christ? It's funny when you think about it; our enemy not only uses pretty much the same play book he always has, he even has some of the same accusations to try and disqualify the truth that we are speaking. When you realize this, it becomes easier to remember that we're facing the same lies, the same murderous intent and ultimately the same enemy.
I thought for an outro song this week I'd treat you to something light-hearted. I think of this song every year around this time and thought I'd use it on the show. If nothing else, for those of you who think that you may be the only ones with a different sort of family, don't worry you're not.
