Sven Longshanks and Matt Johnson discuss the Russian response to a Jewish comedian being voted in as president of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelensky won fame playing the part of a peasant who unexpectedly becomes the President of Ukraine in a comedy tv series. He has now been voted into power by the Ukraine people and not just on TV.
We are being told that he wants to stop the war in the east and start dialogue with Russia and we have even heard the outgoing president Poroshenko claim that Putin is now running Ukraine again.
Zelensky supposedly wants to to stop the war, but all he has said is that he wants to implement the Minsk agreement and the Budapest protocol, one is a peace plan for the east and the other says that any attack on Ukraine is a cause for war.
Zelensky has made a big deal about rooting out corruption, but this will not be possible as he will have to make a deal with the corrupt portion of the government in order to be president.
Another part of his platform is an amnesty for all the oligarchs, if they pay a one off tax of just 5%.
He also did a Yang gang and waved imaginary cash in the country’s face, in the form of shares for everyone in Ukraine put into a trust fund for every citizen when they become an adult.
Which would be more likely to mean they inherited the country’s debt, rather than any profits.
In the final analysis, there really was no discernible difference between any of the candidates and at least this one might give them a few laughs along the way.
