Sven Longshanks looks at the risks homosexuals are taking with their lifestyle, which some are then forcing on vulnerable patients by ignoring the rules on donating blood.
Homosexuals are at risk from a range of blood borne viruses such as syphilis and AIDS, which is why they were originally banned from donating blood.
This was reduced to a year at first and then three month’s wait between sex partners, to prevent them passing these viruses on to innocent patients who need blood.
But this is seen as ‘discrimination’ by many homosexuals, some of whom are now deliberately giving blood after risking becoming infected through gay sex.
