Sven Longshanks and Max Musson discuss the awful murder of an MP and the start of Captain Scott’s expedition.
Sir David Amess was stabbed 17 times by the son of a former Somali diplomat, while at his parliamentary surgery being held in a church.
He was generally a good MP, being pro-Brexit, anti-abortion and anti gay marriage, but he did appear to be supportive of multiculturalism, a policy that indirectly led to his untimely death.
There are now calls for online anonymity to be removed and social media censorship, despite there being no known social media connection to the killing.
Politician’s surgeries are a deeply ingrained and very useful part of our democracy and it is hoped that they will continue and this wont be used as a reason to cease from them.
In Greatest Britons we learn about the construction of the Discovery, the danger involved in sledging trips and the difficulties of sleeping in a tent in the Antarctic.
