Sven Longshanks and Dr Matthew Raphael Johnson look at what the recent NATO war games held in Norway can tell us about the state of our military in the West.
NATO seem to be doing all they can to provoke Russia, holding massive war games in Norway in preparation for ‘aggression’ from a foreign country, while air-lifting the largest supply of missiles since the Yugoslavia war into Germany just in case anyone thought the enemy might be outside the continent of Europe.
The war games have been plagued by mishaps, at first the troops drank so much the capital of Iceland ran out of beer, then when they arrived in Norway they urinated and pooped everywhere including in public places such as school sports fields and kindergarten play areas.
When the manoeuvres finally began the GPS navigation broke down and this in combination with the slippery roads, caused several vehicles to crash all over the country and even in the water, where a navy frigate collided with an oil tanker.
Considering all this happened in peace time, it hardly gives a positive picture of how they would come off if they did actually try their chances against Putin.
